Hey guys, I'd like to ask for some spiritual assistance to those who are battling cancer, regardless of what type.

My Mother let me know about 3 months ago that my dad went in for a PSA test that detected cancer developing in the lymph nodes of his prostate. The levels detected were very low, and it looked as if they would be able to remove the cancerous area without having to remove the prostate itself. I'll spare all the details, but another test after that surgery revealed it was still present and either radiation or removal would be next.

The good news is, he's taking things quite well, and it looks like he'll beat it in one way or another. He is now 67 and has lived a good life, raising my brother and I and being a husband to our mother. He's my best fishin' buddy! While cancer of the prostate is serious, it is the one that kills the slowest. Regardless if he beats it or not, he will have a good portion of time left to live.

However, there are those who aren't as lucky as he is. I called my mom & dad yesterday to say hi and ask how things were. They had just gotten back from their' first visit to a support group and my mom told me all about it.

His doctor was there, and the doctor asked one of his patients to come in and speak with the group. This fellow, my mother said, had just turned 40 a month ago. He came in with his beautiful girlfriend that was dressed very nice and looked like a sweetheart. He had married quite young, and has a 17 and 19 year old. When he was 38 his doctor told him his PSA levels were extremely high. He went through treatments, but it escaped through the prostate wall(?) and spread to two adjacent areas that I won't mention, and is now entering his bones.

Though I wouldn't mind a prayer for my "pops", I'd really like to send some spiritual assistance for that young man and his family, and to anyone else who is battling cancer. God bless us all.
